Hi Mama,
At our first pediatrician appointment, the doctor checked over baby girl and then sent us in our way but not before saying sternly, “don’t google!! If you have questions, call!” Well doc, I hate to break it to you, but if I called you every time I had a question, you would be denouncing my daughter as your patient and running for the hills. Especially since the most common time questions came up was at 3am.
We have been parents for nearly 6 weeks now so we’re finally getting the hang of it. I plan to share more about the birth on here soon but it’s been hectic trying to find time to write with a newborn. Plus my c-section recovery hasn’t been a walk in the park. But I’ll get to that soon.

If you’ve had kids you will be able to relate to the scary unknown of the first few weeks home with your newborn. Everything makes you question the health of your baby, your sanity, etc. Now that we have smartphones, we can easily check online to find out if the baby’s poop is normal or if we are crazy for thinking our c-section incision can magically pop open. So many fears can be erased with a quick google search. At 3am I’m not looking for peer reviewed journal articles in the topics. I’m looking for forums of other moms with similar experiences to calm my racing mind.
So in order to tell the story of our first 2 weeks at home with baby, I complied a list of everything I googled in the first two weeks after bringing baby home. You can see some themes and patterns as I continued down the google rabbit hole. Whatever you do, don’t tell my pediatrician!

After nearly 60 google searches in the first two weeks, I started to become a baby expert. Of course now I don’t google nearly as much, MAYBE one search per day related to the baby. I started off this parenting thing feeling insecure and totally afraid. And yet, my baby is not only alive, she’s thriving!
To end, I’ll leave a quote from my husband…
“What the heck did people do without google?!”
Thanks for reading. Please comment and tell me what kinds of things you found yourself googling as a first time mom! I’d love to hear them!

LOL no Google searches for me. My firstborn will be 26 in may. Thank God my babies were really healthy. My biggest struggle was sleep deprivation, but that last only two months.
haha oh yes, there wasn’t any such thing back then! It’s such a different time to have a baby now! I think the first month was the worst for us. Either that or I’m just used to being sleep deprived now. 😀 Thanks for reading, Daribel!
