Hi, my name is Audrey, At the time of writing this I am 26 years old. I live in New Jersey and am married with one fur child. Blah blah blah…
Intro posts are always awkward and hard, so let’s make this one easier. I’m an American girl married to a Vietnamese guy, his name is Huy. I share my life on my YouTube channel (Audrey Nguyen) and have now decided that I wanted to get back into writing so I’m starting this blog to compliment my channel and allow me to get even more creative and to be able to tell more detailed stories that might too long for a video or maybe too personal for me to want to say to a camera.
There’s something you should know about me. As a child, I wanted to be a vet, a meteorologist, an English teacher and an author of books, among other things. That last one is important. I would spend hours and hours writing in my journals every day as a kid. I wrote all the things that happened to me each day. I wrote in another journal to my BFF Chelsea who we would switch back and forth and write to each other. I wrote poems about all of my crushes and what I thought love was (*cringe*). I wrote stories, again, about my crushes (lol). And I wrote in my dream journal so I could relive all the interesting dreams I had. I wrote so much that my finger had a huge bump on it from holding the pen all day long. At one point I was keeping a blog. I reread that blog recently and was dying of laughter. I love to re-read my blog and my journals, not because I was living a thrilling life back then, but because my writing style was so funny. And even today I still consider if I should publish those journals in a book because I’m pretty sure if you read them, you would also be entertained.
Anyway, the reason I’m starting this blog is because not only do I want to share stories about my relationship with Huy, but I also want to regain my writing style and creativity. I was so passionate about writing and would love to feel that again. So here I am, writing this post. And honestly, this blog is also going to be a great way for me to share life stories and connect with others, especially those who can relate to being in an AMWF relationship. I have a lot of subscribers who are in my situation, an American dating a Vietnamese, and they wonder what it’s like to actually be married to someone from outside their culture. That’s why I’m here to answer any questions that you might have about this topic. I will be taking questions that I get on my channel and in the comments here and will try my best to illustrate stories that may answer those questions for you. I’m so looking forward to it.
So, how’s that for an intro? Wasn’t too shabby if I do say so myself. Of course, I’ll be back with more posts soon. I’m going to get into some mushy gushy backstory about my relationship with Huy, you know, to set the…setting? And we’ll go from there.
Lots of love…??? How am I going to sign off on these things? Eh, we’ll figure that out later.
Best,
Audrey
“P.S. I love ……” 😌
Haha omg yes!!
What is AMWF may I ask?
Hi Tuan. It stands for Asian Male White Female and is a common phrase used on the internet when people are searching for couples like ours. I wanted to be able to connect with other people who have a similar relationship. 🙂
Hi, your photo is excellent in sharpness and color rendition. Would like to see someday pics of Boston quarters on the travel section . Good luck to your blog.
Thank you, Trung! I hope to share many travel posts in the future! I love Boston and I have been there in the past so I’m sure I will go there again!
Hello Audrey and Huy ! My family came to America in 1975 after the war . My mother is a single mom with six kids , 18 – 7 year old children. Some how my mom picked John and Marylee Murphy in Orrington Maine as our sponsor . We were living in John/Marylee house with their 3 children , Johnny 6 ,Erin 4, Mikey 8 months old. We only lived with the Murphy for 8 months ,from August to April. I’m now 61year old . I look back the experience I have in Maine and all the states I had visited . I’m very sad for peoples you the term of withe privilege- These peoples must have not travel to Maine or Kentucky, Tennessee, New Hampshire, Vermont etc.. to know there are poor white Americans too . Sadly to say that Mrs Marylee Murphy pass away in September 4 /20 . Do to COVID 19 my siblings can’t go with me to Mrs Murphy funeral service ; Audrey I’m very sure you and Huy will raise your children’s well .
