Hi Mamas,
They say that when you become a mom you find yourself and your true purpose in life. I’ll be fair and say that at this point I haven’t given birth yet but I am very much a mom to baby Fawny who is growing inside me right now. It feels like this new identity that isn’t actually new, and instead, my life has led me up to this point where I’m meant to be.
Mother of Fawn.
No, her name isn’t really going to be Fawn or Fawny, but her Vietnamese home name is Nai which translates to “deer” in English. She is my baby Fawn (doo doo doo doo doo doo doo).
When I first started this blog back in March I was excited because I thought I wanted to share my journey of learning Vietnamese culture. I had lots to offer and felt like there were people out there who would benefit from reading about my experiences and point of view as an American girl married to a Vietnamese guy.
But that’s not the identity that I feel the most drawn to. I’m not just some white girl who speaks Vietnamese. I’m a mom. A mom who will raise a daughter between two cultures. A mom who will share her love for travel, language and food with her daughter. A mom who like all moms is “figuring it out” and documenting the journey along the way.
I hope to make connections in a new way with this re-branding. I want to share my journey of becoming the Mother of Fawn, as well as hear from other beautiful mamas out there who have questions or advice.
So from this mama to all the mamas of the world — welcome to the new blog.
