In April I launched this blog. I had so many plans of stories I wanted to share with the world, hoping to connect with others who had similar experiences. The theme of this blog was supposed to be Vietnamese culture and what it’s like to learn it from an American perspective. We recently went to Vietnam in May and I was so excited to come back and share lots of content about the trip. I started. I never finished.
I posted a few blog posts but was feeling pretty jet-lagged and tired for the weeks after coming back to the U.S. One post I was planning to share is “What We Brought Back from Vietnam” since people were curious. I actually was having lunch with friends and we were discussing my trip. The topic of what I brought back came up. I told them about my new lunch box which was a gift from my mother-in-law. “I brought something else back too” I continued. Becky thought I was talking about something in my lunch box (food?) so she said, “in here?”, pointing at my lunch container. “No in here”, I said pointing at my belly. We had brought back the most special souvenir of all. A baby!
We found out we were pregnant a few weeks after getting back to the U.S. We were so excited when we found out. To be honest, I didn’t think it would happen so quick, but I was not upset by that, in fact, I was relieved! I had been on birth control for a really long time and was afraid that it would make it harder to have a baby. That was not the case for me! We got the good news after only one cycle of “trying”.
It feels extra special because we got married in Vietnam in 2013. While we spend most of our time living in the U.S. and only taking short trips back home to Huy’s family, I like knowing that Vietnam is still a special place to us and our family, even if our future will be built on the other side of the world. I want my kids to know both cultures and the fact that we have so many special memories from our time visiting Vietnam is a beautiful thing. I can’t wait to share these stories and look back on them with my baby *girl* and baby #2 (yes, already talking about the next one and the first hasn’t been born yet!).
So welcome back to my blog! I will be obviously sharing some very different content than what I had envisioned when starting this blog, but that’s okay! I want to be able to share my experiences of pregnancy and becoming a first time mom in a place outside of YouTube. I hope that anyone who reads will enjoy as I navigate this new chapter (or is this a new book altogether?!) of my life.
Congrats to you two! Excited to see your new content and I hope you still share some posts about the recent trip to Vietname <3
Hi Kristina! Thank you so much! I am going to share a mix of posts from Vietnam and some posts about my journey of growing a human! 🙂 I hope you will enjoy the upcoming content!
