Hi Mama,
You probably know by now that everyone’s journey into motherhood is unique and special. Some moms experience easy, happy pregnancies, and others have trouble conceiving or experience pregnancy loss. No matter the experiences you’ve had, good or bad, the important thing is what you do after.
Meet Elisa. This mama has used her experience with pregnancy loss and her love of being a stay-at-home-mom to start her own YouTube channel that helps other new moms out there. I’m happy to have become friends with Elisa via Instagram as we both have that same passion for motherhood that motivates us to share and help others.
Please go subscribe to her YouTube channel and follow her on Instagram. Psst — her images of her hometown in Switzerland are breathtaking!
If this if your first time reading my blog, Everyday Moms is a weekly interview series where I will be sharing experiences from moms all around the world! This series allows moms to express themselves and their feelings, and to also help you feel like you’re not alone as you navigate the ups and downs of motherhood.
I’ve been receiving some wonderful stories from moms all about the world. Every story is unique but the theme is the same: motherhood is the hardest yet most rewarding job there is.
If you wish to be featured on the blog, click here to submit responses to the Everyday Moms interview questions. I look forward to sharing your story with the world!
Everyday Moms: Elisa’s Story
“My biggest struggle was definitely the worry after miscarriage. No one tells you or can prepare you for pregnancy after miscarriage.”
Tell us about your family
Hey everyone! My name is Elisa. We live in Switzerland and welcomed our first child, a beautiful girl into this world on January 28th, 2020. We also have two fur babies (cat & dog). I am a stay at home mom and absolutely love it! Our journey to baby was a little tougher than expected as we experienced a miscarriage previously and as a result the second pregnancy was filled with worry. Luckily everything went well. Looking to help other women out there by sharing my experience on my YouTube channel.
When did you become a mom?
January 28th, 2020
What have been your favorite memories/moments from motherhood?
My favorite memories or moments from motherhood are feeling the baby kicks in my belly… she was such an active baby and it gave me so much joy and made me feel calm after experiencing a miscarriage the first time round. Finally I was able to trust the baby inside me! Since she has been with us my favorite moments are all moments when she smiles or when she is sleeping in my arms, looking so happy to just be in my arms and to cuddle with her mom, it’s the feeling of being loved!
What has been your biggest struggle as a mom?
Definitely the worry after miscarriage but also the struggle of breastfeeding. No one tells you or can prepare you for pregnancy after miscarriage. Also no one told me that you could have too much milk! Every time I would feed my baby girl so much milk went pouring into her mouth that she would choke every time! Also the constant milk leakage is a definite struggle, I have breastfed my girl for 5 months now and even though the milk has regulated I still wake up during the night soaked with breast milk… and of course this also makes it hard to leave the house!
What advice do you have for other moms out there, such as something you wish you knew before you became a mom?
Sometimes you just need to tell yourself that you are trying your best and that that is good enough! I found out that constant mom guilt is a real thing… constantly feeling guilty because you think you could do it just a tiny bit better… and then you just need to breathe and relax and remind yourself that you are already doing your best!
Anything else you wish to share about your motherhood experience?
My motherhood / pregnancy experience has been very different to the “normal”, for example: my second trimester was my worst, I always thought people only comment on too big bellies but no they comment on all sizes, you can have too much milk, the list goes on. Every experience is unique!!!
Thanks for sharing your story with us, Elisa! I’m so glad that despite how difficult loosing your first baby was for you, you were able to find joy in your rainbow baby and use the new strength to help other mamas!
I’ll be sharing more stories each week as I receive them so be sure to join my email list if you want to be notified of new posts. You can also follow me on Instagram where I share my motherhood journey every day. I absolutely love connecting with moms through IG so feel free to leave a comment here or send me a DM if you have questions or just want to chat and become friends!
Thanks for reading! xxx
