Hi Mama,
As you know, it’s my mission to help moms feel less lonely and more confident as they embark on their journey through motherhood. I want to build a safe space and a community around this blog for all moms, new and seasoned. So I thought, what better way to do that then to actually feature moms and their stories here on the blog!
Everyday Moms is a weekly interview series where I will be sharing experiences from moms all around the world! I hope that this series will allow moms to express themselves and their feelings, and to also help you feel like you’re not alone as you navigate the ups and downs of motherhood.
If you wish to be featured on the blog, click here to submit responses to the Everyday Moms interview questions. I look forward to sharing your story with the world!
Today we will be hearing from Everyday Mom, Helen, a young mom who had her share of heartbreak before finally welcoming her first baby boy into the world.
Everyday Moms: Helen’s Story
“Fortunately, as time goes by and I see my baby boy is growing stronger and bigger everyday, I believe that he’s here to stay for the long run.”
Tell us about your family
Hi! My name is Helen I’m a 23 year old mum. I’m currently living in Sydney, Australia with my hubby and my baby, Anthony. Baby boy was born on 29th of January 2020 and to be honest it’s was crazy!! Flash back to when I first found out that I’m was going to be a mum, it was so unreal. My husband and I had been married for 3 years and in those 3 years I had experienced 2 miscarriages which made me become so stressed and depressed, so I wasn’t having high hopes for Anthony. Fortunately, as time goes by and I see my baby boy is growing stronger and bigger everyday, I believe that he’s here to stay for the long run. ❤️
When did you become a mom?
January 29th 2020
What have been your favorite memories/moments from motherhood?
My favorite moment from being a mother is feeding time! I know it’s a love/hate moment because some nights you just want to sleep, but gotta get up to feed your little human.
I just love whenever I’m feeding him, he always holding on to my fingers to soothe himself.
What has been your biggest struggle as a mom?
The biggest struggle for me is definitely being alone at night everyday with no help from anyone because my husband is working night shift and he couldn’t stay home much since I gave birth.
Also my self esteem has dropped a lot since I gave birth. I’m just so overwhelmed of all the changes, not being able to dress up, can’t go anywhere and the most importantly my changing body. I was 50kg before my baby and now I’m just stuck at 74kg.
What advice do you have for other moms out there, such as something you wish you knew before you became a mom?
My advice to other mums out there is be yourself and don’t listen to what other people say or judge about your baby, because nobody knows your baby better than you. A little less weight or more weight it’s okay, because every baby grows differently.
I hope that reading Helen’s story was inspiring. I’m so happy that her story has a shimmering light at the end of the tunnel, her super sweet son, Anthony!
I’ll be sharing more stories each week as I receive them so be sure to subscribe to the email list on the left-hand side of the page if you want to be notified of new posts.
